Grace Yan was born in a small town in Southeast China. Photography came to her as she seeks to see and understand this diasporic life - one that inevitably deals with meanings of loss, as well as with questions of being and becoming. Her imageries are deeply personal, often dwelling on everyday subjects and people. Nevertheless, it is hoped that through such a personal journey one sees a life common to all of us - its innocence, space, silence, humor and pain - its displaced life and death.
